DNP List

Ychan observes International Copyright Law, which in short means:

  • If an artist sells a piece of art, you may not redistribute it as you are depriving the creator of revenue.
  • If an artist publishes their art for free, you may distribute it under privileges of fair dealing / fair use as long as the image is not altered and any watermarks or identifiers remain present on the image.

The DNP list is provided exclusively for the benefit of the userbase, for the quick identification of non-postable (commercial) art. It is also important to respect the wishes of artists. If, for example, an artist has explicitly stated that a work may not under any terms be redistributed and only linked to we ask that you (a user) comply; if no one did said artist would have less reason to continue sharing their work for free and that would be a loss for all involved.

The DNP list is not open to every artist. If you are an artist and you publish your work for free on the Internet then you (an artist) must take whatever measures you desire to protect your work - be that in the form of a watermark, signature and so forth - but recognize the inherent freedoms you are granting in so doing. Only applications from artists, groups and sites that sell their art will be considered.
